Elvis the Missing Years
Elvis the Missing Years

Very few people can claim to have changed the youth culture of the world in the way that Elvis Presley did. He showed the youth of the day another lifestyle and arguably created the 'teenager'. For the first time teenagers could express themselves through their own music and fashion, breaking with tradition and not just following in their parents footsteps. Elvis' life has been well documented, especially since his untimely death in 1977, but the Missing Years Collection offers a unique and important insight into the private man behind the icon.

The DVD - features the least well documented events in Elvis' life and reveals in detail his two years in Germany when, at the height of his career and influence and just three weeks after the death of his mother, he was drafted into the US Army, imposing a forced separation from his devoted fans. Also included is a special bonus 55 minute audio documentary spanning Elvis' life and career providing many insights into the sometimes complex personality of the man.

The CD - features 7 1954 recordings by Elvis and the Blue Moon Boys such as Maybellene, That's Alright Mama, Blue Moon of Kentucky, expressing the raw emotion packed atmosphere of his early live performances.

Presley & Cash: The Road Show Released 2001
Presley & Cash: The Road Show Released 2001

Sun Records, the brainchild of Sam Phillips, began life at 706 Union Avenue, Memphis in 1949. Sam Phillips' motto was "We Record Anything - Anywhere - Anytime" and in 1954 he signed the first of what was to become known as the Million Dollar Quartet: Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins.

In 1954 Elvis actually paid Sun Records for the privilege of making his first recording and Johnny Cash finally plucked up the courage to audition for Sam Phillips' and Sam was singularly unimpressed - by either of them. Luckily, they persevered and he changed his mind and thus began the rise of two of the greatest stars of the music world.

This amazing DVD captures over 30 of the early performances of Presley and Cash as they were taking their first steps on the ladder to stardom and international fame and on the accompanying audio CD they are joined by their Million Dollar Quartet cohorts, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins in a truly memorable collection of recordings.

THIN LIZZY    OUTLAWED  The Real Phil Lynott Story

This is a fascinating and massively entertaining account of the life of Phil Lynott; a man whose talent is hailed universally but whose early life of poverty is less well documented. The programme seeks to address, with marked success, some of the unanswered questions. We're treated to a rare insight and even rarer interview by his mother Philomena, who speaks fondly of her famous son, ranging from her trauma in the early years to the devastation of finding him close to death just 37 years later; the revelations are incredibly moving and remarkably informative. Also featured on this amazing DVD are interviews by fellow band members Eric Bell and Brian Robertson and more, plus an interview with long time friend George Best; an interview that would sadly prove to be his last! All this plus footage including the first ever release of their performance from Dublin's National Stadium in 1975 plus a bonus of rare and previously unseen Lizzy film. The title is completed by a pulsating CD containing 10 rare performance tracks with Phil's new band "Grand Slam" who went on to find their own group of followers, but whose expanding popularity was never to transform into a recording contract. CD Tracklist: 1. Yellow Pearl - Live in Sweden 1983 2. Old Town - Live in Sweden 1983 3. Parisienne Walkways - Live in Sweden 1983 4. Solo In Soho - Live in Sweden 1983 5. Benny Goodman - The Last Performance legends In Concert
Benny Goodman - The Last Performance legends In Concert

This sensational DVD sees Benny Goodman and his band performing some of the all time favourites in what was to prove his final concert at the Tivoli Gardens in Sweden.

Although from a poverty stricken family, Benny Goodman had music in his life from an early age and by 1921, when only 12 years old he appeared on stage imitating bandleader and clarinettist Ted Lewis, catching the eye of Ben Pollack in the process, who invited him to join his band. From that chance meeting the scene was set for the beginning of a career that helped to change the course of modern day music.

When the home of music de-camped to New York Goodman followed and turned freelance, playing with such luminaries as Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey. But in 1934 he formed his own band featuring Bunny Berigan on trumpet, Jess Stacey on piano and Gene Krupa on drums; add to that lineup the talents of arranger Fletcher Henderson and the birth of 'swing' had arrived.

Perry Como: Legends In Concert
Perry Como: Legends In Concert

Born the seventh son of a seventh son in 1912 Pennsylvania, Pierino Roland Como was considered to have a lucky star shining above him, a belief that time would prove correct. His career path was set from an early age although not in the direction he was later to find. For him the brightest light on the High Street was a barbers shop window. But his affair with hair was cut short and in his late teens his talent for singing surfaced when he was offered a spot in the Freddie Carlone Orchestra, touring the Midwest states. His ultimate goal now realised Perry went on to sell over 100 million records worldwide over six decades, with hits such as 'Hey Good Looking' and 'Papa Loves Mambo' both performed here in front of the cameras and presented on this fabulous DVD compilation. Also featured is a rare opportunity to see the great Bob Hope singing a duet with Perry... played for laughs rather than musical excellence of course! more info

Neil Sedaka: Legends In Concert
Neil Sedaka: Legends In Concert

As a boy from Brooklyn Neil had the type of upbringing that was always going to take him into music although his mother would have preferred 'classical' rather than 'popular'. Although continuing his classical interest, at 17 Neil formed a group called 'The Tokens' and caught the attention of record producer Morty Craft, which lead to the group recording a few singles with minor success.

In 1957 at the age of 18, he decided to split from the group to promote himself as a solo artist and recorded 'Snowtime' for Decca. It was his first attempt at multi-tracking but the public failed to appreciate the novelty. His big break came the following year when Connie Francis recorded Neil's composition 'Stupid Cupid' and gave him a chance to demonstrate his skills at the piano. The song was a hit and by late '58 he had been elevated to a contractual position with a leading New York publisher.

Although writing was earning him cash his real ambition was to perform, and with this in mind he joined RCA Records and recorded his million seller 'Oh Carol'. Since then he has never looked back, whether writing for others or performing with that most distinctive of sounds.

In this breathtaking DVD we present Neil live at the Jubilee Hall in Canada, singing evergreens such as 'Standing On The Inside' and many others in an unforgettable performance from one of the world's finest popular entertainers.

Luciano Pavarotti: Legends In Concert
Luciano Pavarotti: Legends In Concert

On 12 October 1935 in Modena, Italy Luciano Pavarotti, a legend in the making, was born. The son of a baker and amateur tenor, singing was clearly in his blood, but it was football that first brought him into the limelight when he showed considerable talent playing for his local club. But soccer was to be a lasting passion rather than a direction in life, and a passion he still follows with undimmed enthusiasm.

His baptism into the world of music came about when performing with his father in the Modena Chorus, winning first prize in an international competition. This produced a spark bright enough to ignite a flame in his heart that was, and still is, filling every auditorium in which he appears.

This exclusive DVD gives an opportunity to see and listen to a compilation from his performance in Barcelona singing lesser known arias and sonnets to a spellbound audience.
